Compared with traditional secondary batteries such as lead-acid and nickel-hydrogen batteries, lithium-ion batteries have very obvious advantages.
Lithium batteries have high gram-specific capacity and ultra-high energy density to compress the battery space as much as possible, making portable appliances lighter and thinner, and at the same time longer standby time.
Lithium batteries have a large output power, which is very important for equipment that requires high current discharge, such as model airplanes and drones that need to be flipped in the air, which requires high battery power; or similar to hand-held power tools, which require a long time and high magnification. Discharge; or electric golf carts need to climb hills, lithium batteries can cover these needs.
Lithium batteries have a long energy storage time and relatively low self-discharge. This feature is very important for the design of backup energy storage power supplies in some remote areas, which greatly reduces the cost of manual inspection and installation.
Lithium batteries have a wide operating temperature range, and can already be charged and discharged at -20~85℃. This is the basic requirement for extremely cold and extremely hot environments.
Unlike lead-acid batteries that contain lead, lithium batteries are environmentally friendly and no longer pose a new burden on the environment.
Of course, lithium batteries also have some shortcomings.
The first is that the preparation conditions of lithium batteries are relatively high, which is a challenge to the management ability and cost control of manufacturers.
Secondly, the energy density of lithium batteries is higher, and the safety risks are increased. In order to improve safety and prevent short-circuit and overcharge of lithium batteries, lithium battery packs (such as: two or more batteries connected in series or parallel to form a specific shape according to customer requirements, called "pack".) must use PCM/BMS for electronic monitoring.
In general, the advantages of lithium batteries far outweigh their disadvantages, and they are the best choice for the battery industry.
